Our Story
The Oak and Resin Coaster was the first design experiment that Conor from Oak and Rowan created. In 2020 with some free time and nowhere to go, he decided to bring to life some ideas that he was thinking about for many years. Conor began to experiment with wooden crafts and found a real passion for it.
In the summer of this year (2022) he decided it was time to scale up the production of his ideas and built himself a workshop in his garden where he now is working on a new collection of sustainable, fun, and practical products.
Where possible Conor aims to salvage and reuse wooden pieces that he gets from local sawmills and that come his way. We have a selection of bookmarks that were created from oak pieces destined for the fire. A coffee table was created from a large piece of ash that was set to rot on a roof of a sawmill. Offcuts in the workshop offer new possibilities and we aim to have the least amout of waste being discarded.
As well as the small house hold items Conor loves to spend time on creating one off bespoke larger pieces. From practical and fun kids furniture to beautiful one off hardwood and resin tables, he aims to celebrate the wood and all the natural intricacies it contains.
